The American Community School of Amman, Jordan, is a U.S. accredited, independent, non-profit, Pre-K through grade 12 school that offers a rigorous U.S. curriculum with an international and regional focus to a diverse, multi-cultural population distinguished by a supportive and cohesive community. The High School is a college preparatory instructional program leading to an American high school diploma and credits in Advanced Placement classes. ACS operates on a semester basis. Our first semester generally extends from August through December. Second semester is from January through June. ACS is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools.
The American Community School is a private co-educational day school which offers an educational program from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The curriculum is similar to that taught in U.S. public schools and teaching is conducted in English. Arabic, Spanish, and French are taught as foreign languages. Students normally enter the school for the three year old class at the age of three years. It is school policy that a child must be three years old by September 1 to enter the three year old program, and four years old by September 1 to enter pre-kindergarten.
Today ACS has 44 classrooms with fully equipped sports, fine and performing arts centers and state of the art science and technology labs.
All high school courses at ACS are at the college preparatory level. For our middle and high school students we offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses to learn and achieve at the highest level. Through AP's college-level courses and exams, students can earn college credit and advanced placement to stand out in the admissions process. Through our membership in the Eastern Mediterranean Activities Conference (EMAC), we offer students opportunities to interact with other American and international schools at the varsity and junior varsity levels in athletics, academics, and fine arts.
Of our student population, 46% are American, 21% are Jordanian, 7% are Korean, 13% are European, and 13% are from 23 additional countries.
